Chapter Twenty-Five

“Where are you taking me?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

“You’ll see.”

“Where’s, Kyle?”

He chuckled. “You’re a damn good kisser, but you ask way too many questions.”

The vile act made her stomach churn, and she swallowed to keep from vomiting in his truck.

Her phone rang. Justin heard it too. When she reached into her pocket to take it, she was surprised when Justin didn’t try to stop her. But the second she lifted it to her ear, he jerked it out of her hand and slung it out of the truck window.

“You rogue son of a bitch!” With all her might, she drew back and swung. She wasn’t picky right now. His face, jaw anything would do. He laughed when she tagged his arm. She collapsed in the seat and eyed the door handle. “You don’t deserve a son.”

“What?” he asked.

She grabbed it, flung the door open and jumped. Despite Justin grabbing at her clothes she hit hard, rattling her teeth and rolled end over end. A sharp pain shot up her front leg as she tumbled end over end in the grass and came to rest on her side. The squeal of truck tires had her back on all four paws, dodging branches and running for her life. Vines tore at her fur leaving little gashes and a sharp pain shot through her front leg, but she couldn’t think about pain right now. She had to outrun the wolf in pursuit.

A large boulder was coming up on the right. Sydney hurtled herself over it and stared wide-eyed at the steep drop off on the other side. Somewhere during the downward spiral, her head tagged a rock. Justin called out her name just as everything faded…
